VISION

Our vision begins with the conviction that relaxation and pleasure are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the positive effects of massage and touch. We believe that receiving touch can induce, in an individual, a state of embodied self-awareness which can give a fresh perspective on whatever issues the receiver may have been unable to resolve when viewing them solely from a cerebral or emotional lens. An embodied state can also begin to overcome blockages and disconnection whether in the physical, sexual or energetic systems of the body.

Many of the mental, physical and emotional states which we experience on a daily basis spring not from our rational thinking but from a complicated and ancient system of neurochemical perceptions and responses which are rooted in the need our ancestors had to instantly asses their environment for what could pose a threat and what or who could offer protection: The ”friend or foe paradigm.”

By having space held for us and receiving loving, safe touch and physical holding, those parts of our systems which may have been tensed against danger since early childhood can begin to feel safe. This permits them to relax, which in turn allows for the body’s natural repair and growth systems to begin to function freely. It may begin to feel safe to acknowledge for the first time, self-limiting thoughts and other beliefs and attitudes which are no longer serving us.

This is why we say that mindful, loving embodied touch can be all that is needed to allow all of us to tip over the thresholds of our lives into the fulness of our potential and why we believe that a workshop or session at Quusp can be simply a wonderful relaxing and pleasurable experience but maybe the doorway to a lifelong process of healing and expansion.

Our residential retreats and workshops are offered by gay & queer practitioners and are specially suited for LGBTQ participants, while also welcoming people of all genders and sexual orientations.
